Ben Stein, economist, lawyer and author, will be the keynote speaker at the 2009 LIMRA Annual Meeting, bringing together the leaders of major life insurance and financial services companies to New York City from Oct. 25 to 27.
The event's theme "New Rules of Engagement," focuses on how the unprecedented events and a downturn in the market has impacted the life insurance and financial services industries and explores what companies will need to do to compete and succeed in this new business landscape.
NAVA, The Association for Insured Retirement Solutions, will host its 2009 Operations & Technology Conference June 29-July 1 to discuss industry standards, emerging technology and its impact on the industry, as well as supporting the needs of clients and distributors. The conference will feature keynote speaker Scott Stolz, President of PCA/Raymond James Financial, who will stress the importance of understanding the needs of the distributor. In addition, attendees to the conference will be conducting "man on the street" surveys in Boston to assess the knowledge or lack thereof regarding retirement products.

The American College announced that leading investor and market analyst Peter Lynch will be a featured presenter at the institution’s annual Knowledge Summit in Boston this fall. On Thursday, October 29, Lynch, who is best known for his “must-read” books on investing and his exceptional management of the Fidelity Magellan Fund, will present “Economic Turbulence and Long-Term Investing: What to do Now?”
The Convention and Career Conference has long brought together NAIFA members from around the nation to conduct the business of the association and to enjoy educational workshops and networking opportunities. But many members found it hard to commit the time and expense to attend the full conference if they were not a National Council delegate. Things have changed in 2009.
