ACE USA’s Senior Vice President, ACE Environmental Risk, William P. Hazelton, has won the 2009 Risk Innovators award in the category of Construction from Risk & Insurance magazine. The award promotes the achievements of those who advance innovation not just within their company, but for the entire insurance industry.

Mr. Hazelton and Gerald J. Rojewski, Vice President, ACE Casualty Risk, worked together to create the ACE Green CPL^SM, a Contractors Pollution Liability program that helps contractors deal with exposures from green commercial construction projects.

ACE Green CPL is specifically designed for pollution liability in green construction projects like those with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. It provides coverage for various accidental pollution-related exclusions that may not be handled by a contractor’s Contractors General Liability (CGL) insurance. Risk control for ACE Green CPL policies includes environmental underwriting assessments by Hygienetics Environmental Services, Inc., an environmental consulting subsidiary of ESIS, Inc.
