In its support of the National Guard and Reserve, Aetna Inc. goes above and beyond its legal requirements. For doing so, it has received a special honor from the Connecticut Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (CT-ESGR, Inc.).
CT-ESGR recently presented Aetna with an “Above and Beyond” award. The honor, given by state and territory ESGR committees, recognizes employers who have gone beyond the legal
requirements for granting leave and providing support for their employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve. Aetna has 100 employees who are serving in the military or have served recently, including the Guard and Reserve.
“Aetna is honored to receive this award for its support of employees who are serving our country at this critical time,” said Susan M. Peters, president of Aetna Government Health Plans.
In addition, Aetna has been nominated for the 2009 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given to employers for their support of their workers who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.
