As the national unemployment continues to rise, some employers may be looking for ways to help employees they have to let go.
Through the Employee Benefits Group division of Sun Life Financial Inc., headquartered in Wellesley, Mass., they can participate in the new OutplacementResources
SM program if they are enrolled in the ComPsych employee assistance program (EAP).
The OutplacementResources program, available through ComPsych
® Corporation, includes information, tools, and resources to help former employees in transition as well as human resources managers.

"By working with ComPsych, we are able to extend additional, cost-effective benefits to employers that are vital to maintaining morale, as well as providing employees with valuable tools for their transition."
Designed for companies of all sizes, OutplacementResources can support former employees of all levels and give them with practical job-hunting skills. The program includes three components:
- One-on-one guidance that includes up to three coaching sessions with an outplacement expert (conducted through telephone). The counselor can help the worker review his resume, offer suggestions for improvement, and give career planning guidance.
- A comprehensive guide for transitioning employees that includes topics such as skills self-assessment, using technology to find a job, resume-writing skills, and how to prepare for successful interviewing.
- An online workshop presented by a ComPsych training professional that guides participants through the job search process and offers tools for self-assessment and goal- setting.
Because of the partnership between Sun Life and ComPsych, the OutplacementResources program is provided at an exclusive discount for Sun Life customers.
Comprehensive EAP programs, including a wide range of work-life services, are offered to all of Sun Life's group life, long-term disability, short-term disability, and self-insured customers.
